Indiana Jones 3 - The Graphic Adventure

This new graphic adventure from Lucasfilm games looks very similar to
the previous "Zak Macracken" game. It's still mouse only, but the
graphics and animation has been improved and now looks similar to
Sierra types of games.

It's divided into several distinct parts that follows the film
closely. The troubles that Indy gets into are often the same, but the
solution have been changed so that it won't be to easy to solve.

In America things start of very easy with only a few problems and
some animation sequences to bind it all together. After this it's off
to Venice.
Here things get more diverted from the plot of the film, In the
library there are several books needed later on in the game thats
very easy to miss completely. Most of the adventuring here takes
place in a vastly expanded catacomb. With the Grail Diary at hand
it's not impossible to solve ones way through here.

When the second marker is found it's off to Brunwald castle to rescue
Indianas father from the Nazis. Here is the main puzzle solving of
the game, this is due to the fact that almost nothing is similar to
the film. There are several guards here, but thankfully it's possible
to play the game without having to resort to the action boxing
sequence. There are many ways of playing here and it's very easy to
miss something important only to get stuck later in the game.

Berlin is only visited to have a small chat with Hitler before
leaving to Iskanderum and the Holy Grail.

After travelling through Germany, Indy finally reached the end of his
quest. The Holy Grail, here the game cannot longer be saved and
restored and instead after you die you start over again with your
father being shot. The three tests are identical to the ones in the
movie and the game system doesn't quite measure up here. All three is
solved by clicking at the right spot, something thats very dependant
on luck. The final test, choosing the right grail, is also quite hard
considering it's picked randomly for each game. But, the animation
when Indy drinks from the wrong cup is very effective and well worth
watching.

When the Adventure is finished a credit list appears against the
sunset, even that's very similar to the one in the movie. For
example, This game was programmed on location in.... and so on!
Indiana Jones is a very enjoyable game, specially when compared with
the pathetic arcade game from US Gold. Comparing the gamesystem to
Sierras, I still like to be able to enter command phrases with the
keyboard, but the What Is function in Indy which let you know what an
object is, are very helpful. Hope I'll see that in Sierras games
also. Shame about the music, but you can always turn the volume down!
