p DEAR ST NEWS READER! q

Allow us to inform you of the fact that on this disk you will find the
latest issue of ST NEWS - Volume 6 Issue 2, finished on August 18th
1991 (the first lustrum issue!).
As usual, the thing is packed with all kinds of interesting bits -
reviews, features, religion (ahem), heavy metal, human interest,
programming tricks and some rather neat little programs in the PROGRAMS
folder. We think there's bound to be something on it you'll like, so
therefore we will not keep you long in this document file.
There are, however, some things you should know.

p WHAT IS IN THIS ISSUE OF ST NEWS? q

 (Among others, that is)
We have quite a lot of spiffin' things to offer, of which we will mention
some here:

THE FIRST EVER SOLUTION TO MAGNETIC SCROLLS' "WONDERLAND"!

A REAL-TIME ARTICLE COVERING THE DELTA FORCE INTERNATIONAL CODING
  CONFERENCE, AUGUST 1st-4th, LEUTENBACH, GERMANY!

LOTS OF REVIEWS, E.G. "GODS", "LEMMINGS", "LLAMATRON" AND "A PREHISTORIC
  TALE"!

 SOME REALLY EXCITING HIDDEN MATERIAL!

THE LATEST NEWS ON THE FIELD OF CULTURE - BOOKS, MUSIC AND MOVIES!

RELIGIOUS EXCTASY - A VISIT TO THE PLANTIAC FACTORIES!

THE HOTTEST NEWS TOPICS FROM ALL AROUND THE ATARI ST WORLD!

YET ANOTHER EXCLUSIVE ISSUE OF THE SUB-MAGAZINE JOURNALYNX!

THE HOTTEST PACKER IN AN EXCLUSIVE, EVEN BETTER ST NEWS VERSION!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK OUT!

THE HOTTEST SCROLL DEMO YET FEATURED IN ANY DISK MAGAZINE WORLD WIDE!

A TOTAL OF 1032 KB OF ARTICLES!!

 (Among others, as said before)

We would have liked to fill this disk a bit more, but we didn't have any
stuff left to publish.
Think of it: There's 1032 Kb of articles, 80 Kb of PROGRAMS folder and
the actual ST NEWS program all on one standard double-sided disk!

p HOW TO COPY ST NEWS q

 The disk is double-sided, i.e. you'll need a double-sided disk drive to
use it. Copying is very easy, however. The disk is formatted with the
standard amount of tracks and sectors so any PD or commercial copy
program will be able to do the backupping for you (why, even the bleedin'
DESKTOP can do it!). It's 80 tracks (0-79) with 9 sectors per track.
You should try to copy it as often as possible to everyone you know, as
this issue of ST NEWS is, as usual, Public Domain and may be spread
freely! Use in PD libraries and all that stuff is strictly allowed.
Please refer to the "Colofon" article for a list of foreign
distributors if you care to get any of the other 29 ST NEWS issues.
People who live in other countries can contact us directly at the address
mentioned in the "Correspondence Address" article.

p VIRUS ON THE BOOTSECTOR?! q

If you use an old virus killer, it may say that there's a virus on the
bootsector. Rest assure, however, that there is none (at least all the
copies WE gave out had no virus on them). The bootsector IS executable,
however, which is actually necessary, for:

!!MR. BEE OF THE OVERLANDERS WROTE A NICE BOOTDEMO FOR US!!
(Thanks, Mr. Bee! Thanks, Dogue, for being out interpreter!)

 It's got 37 balls and a 46 character scroll that's quite big.
If you are not sure, just check the disk with any virus killer - but
preferably the "Atari ST Virus Killer" or "Ultimate Virus Killer" version
4.1 or higher!
We are sorry to say that the demo boot sector does not work on monochrome
monitors... too bad. Be glad it doesn't crash or something.

p STOP PRESS q

Just as this actual ST NEWS was actually already finished, we got an
article written by The Bitmap Brothers - a "Gods" players' guide. As it
was printed out, we could not enter it in this issue. Instead, we'd like
to mention that the NEXT ST NEWS (which will either be Volume 6 Issue 3 or
Volume 7 Issue 1) will contain this article, written by the Bitmap
Brothers themselves, including ways to get all the world level maps!
 See you then!

p NOTE TO LOTS OF PEOPLE q

Do take the trouble to read the scroll text in full. It mentions a lot
of people I know, and some of these have dire reasons to contact us (i.e.
Jeff, Frystein, and more). Some people are even mentioned TWICE!

p NOTE ON COMPATIBILITY q

ST NEWS works on all ST systems, and on a TT as long as it's operated
using the ST medium or high resolutions. Some options may be disabled on
half meg machines, though.

p A HIDDEN 'READ_ME.TXT' FILE! q

Well, as everybody nowadays seems to be doing hidden articles, times
have dawned upon us to do something new. We have, thus, done a hidden
vid' on the ST NEWS International Christmas Coding Convention Vid',
and now we have also done a hidden 'READ_ME.TXT'! Well, I hope you
feel pleased with yourself now.

We are, however, NOT going to do much with this remarkably hidden
thing. Maybe we can swear a bit.
But we're not brought up that way.
All we can say is: Have fun reading the issue!
(And please don't forget to read the entire scroll text)
