                                 THESNAP.TOS

This program will save a screen in either Neochrome or
Degas picture file formats. To run the program, just click on
it from the desktop. If you are in low resolution then you
will be asked whether to use the Neo format or default to
Degas. To save a screen, press the ALT/HELP keys and the
program will prompt for the disk device. The picture file
will always be stored in the root directory and will be given
the name 'SCRXXX_PI?'. (where 'XXX' is a number starting at
001 and incremented after each saving)

It would be wise never to use THESNAP if anything of
importance is in the machine. There is always an element of
risk in using this type of program. To save a screen file to
disk we must use one of the system trap routines and it is
more than possible that the running program is in the middle
of using part of the same routine so that any screen save
could corrupt variables used by the system for the running
program. Despite the above it is fairly robust when compared
         to similar programs.

On pressing ALT/HELP, you may be given warning that a file is
open on a particular disk. If this occurs then on no account
should the disk be swapped to save the picture file as this
will almost certainly corrupt one or both disks.

The machine must be reset to kill the screen saver.
