Chagall Reference Dialogs <Control-E> 12.5.93
==================================================

This dialog box contains all the parameters
that affect the display and handling of dialogs
   in Chagall.

   'Position at opening'
determines where the dialog box will appear on
the screen when called. You can choose whether
Chagall dialogs should on principle be 'Centred'
on the screen or whether they should be displayed
'At mouse-cursor'. As a third option dialog boxes
can also appear at the 'Old position', i.e. at the
place they occupied wwhen last used.

The 'Behaviour' fields determine the following
   parameters:

   'Dialogs in windows',
when active, ensures that all dialogs appear in
windows. If this option is de-selected, then the
dialogs will appear in the normal GEM dialog-boxes.
If you have installed WINX or MultiTOS then you
should definitely activate this option, since
dialogs in windows can be moved easily and also
operate in a non-modal manner, i.e. do not block
the system while open. In particular this permits
a change of program (under MultiTOS).

   'Use 3D-look'
Chagall can display dialogs with a 3D-look, as now
used in many modern user-interfaces. This 3D-look
is particularly appealing on grey-scale and colour
monitors. If its not to your liking, and specially
on monochrome screens, then you can easily switch
     off this option.

   'Grow-/Shrinkboxes'
normally appear as the dialog opens. With slow
graphics-cards there may be a slight speed advantage
     in switching this option off.

   'Close after execution'
     determines whether a non-modal (!) dialog closes
after clicking on the 'Activate' button or not.
If you deactivate this option, then this dialog
(which naturally must be displayed in a window)
will remain open until the window that contains
the dialog is explicitly closed by the user.

   'Key-presses to mouse-cursor'
is an option that we find especially practical:
If it is activated, then Chagall sends keyboard
shortcuts not to the top window, but to the one
which contains the mouse-cursor at the time.
This makes it possible, for instance, to alter
the operational intensity of the tool parameters
by moving the mouse over the appropriate window
     and pressing the desired key-combination.
