What is GemDemo?
GemDemo is a small project for making some of the most popular
demo-effects on falcon computers available to a larger public.
GemDemo is also a way to see which computer is really best suited
for democoding, and to proove that GEM in assembler is really cool.

Requirements:
 - An Atari compatible computer
 - 020 or better CPU
 - A TOS compatible OS
 - 15 or 16 bit graphics mode
 - Some free RAM, depending on how many demomodules you have installed.

Compatibility:
We have tested GemDemo with quite a few machines, and here are the
 results:

 - Falcon030 standard model, 4/14 meg STRAM. No problems found.
 - Falcon030 Nemesis, no problems found.
 - Falcon030 MagnumRAM, 16bit FastRam. No problems found.
 - Falcon030 Mighty Sonic accelerator, 32bits FastRam. No problems found.
 - Falcon040 Afterburner040 with Nova Graphics. No problems found.
 - TT030 Crazy Dots. No problems found.
 - TT030 Nova. No problems found.
 - Hades040 with ET6000 PCI. No problems found.
 - Hades060 with ET6000 PCI. No problems found.
 - Milan040 - Ieeek! Did not work. (but we have a quite good idea why
   now)

Speed:
If you look at the file "gemdemo.fps" you will see the current benchmark
tests we have. If you have a machine which differs from those in that
file, please provide us with your results.
NOTE: These tests where done with Output = Direct and Clipping = OFF.

One function not available from the menu:
To zero out the fps counter, press CTRL+R. This is handy if you just
just had some other apps doing some heavy updates, or opened more demo
windows, and don't want to wait for the average to come down/up.

Known problems:
 - Do NOT drag a demo window offscreen when clipping is turned off!
Doing so will lead to a real nasty crash!.

 - Make sure the demo window does not strech offscreen when changing
zoom-factor and clipping is turned off! Nasty Crash again, if you do.

 - Do NOT attempt to use this program in other than 15- or 16-bit
color modes! No checks are made done to check the color depth.

 - The look of the dialogs is not correct in screenmodes below 640x400!
   This is being worked on.

 - That's all we can think of right now...

Disclaimer:
If any hardware or software would be damaged when running GemDemo, we
can not be made responsible for that, GemDemo is used at your own risk!

Final words:
Please note that this is a BETA version and might very well include
fatal bugs that we at the moment are unaware of. Future NON beta versions
would hopefully have those bugs removed. Future versions will also include
more functions to the GemDemo shell (seqeunce list, musicplayer etc..).

But for now, this is it, we've had so many requests of a GemDemo release
so we think it's time everyone can have a quick look at it in it's current
 state.

If you want to contact us for any reason, please contact us at the E-mail
addresses at the top of this text, any feedback is welcome, negative as
 positive!

Byebye, and see you soon in a new GemDemo release!
