                        Backgroundmusic 3
                        =================
                        ( vers. 3.1.95 )

Replay- and DSP-Code: bITmASTER of TCE
AUTO-folder program and GEM-programming: Apache of tnb

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is ( one more ) module player for the F030 using bITmASTERs replay.
The reasons to use it are:

1. It supports many module formats:
         originally supported by bITmASTER:
            4-channel Protracker ( M.K. )
            4-channel Startrekker ( FLT4 )
            8-channel Octalyzer STE/F030 ( CD8, CD81 )
            8-channel Digital F030 ( FA08 )
         patching the module:
            8-channel "Triton" Fasttracker ( 8CHN )

( the accessory fixes an undocumented passage in the 'FA08'-format so
that this modules will played correctly )

2. The accessory will play modules packed with Pack-ICE or JAM-Pack. JAM-
Pack seems to have slightly better packing rates, but the depack-
routine needs additional memory for it's work and needs a bit more time
   than ICE-Pack.

3. The player can produce surround sound and has an interpolation option
   for best quality.

4. On ProTracker ST the $D-argumentbyte isn't used. Some musicians like to
use it as a remark. This accessory allows you to clean such modules
   before playing.

5. The player needs no more than 8% of CPU-time for 4-channel modules and
   14% CPU-time for 8-channel modules ( for monochrome video mode ). It
runs very stable in the background, even the perturbation of the
   keyboard/mouse-handler could be stopped!

6. The accessory has an build-in fader ( 0-99 secs ).

What is planned for the future?
   If I get some modules with ID's 'FLT8', 'CD6n', 'CD4n'(?), '4CHN'(?) or
'6CHN' I could perhaps develop patches for them. Maybe bITmASTER makes
a new Version of his player supporting *.S3M, *.669 or *.DTM.

What is the shareware price?
NONE! If you like the program then you have only to send me a postcard
( with a nice(!) picture of you or your town for instance ). You could
also send me your newest modules if you are a musician.

What happens if you sell this for commerce?
   You will burn in hell.

Installation:
   copy DSP_PLAY.PRG to C:\AUTO\
   copy DSP_PLAY.ACC to C:\
   reboot and enjoy

Files to spread:
   DSP_PLAY.PRG
   DSP_PLAY.ACC
   DSP_PLAY.TXT

Remaining problems:
   - sometimes ( seldom ) the player hangs up at the end of an module
   - when fading you can't klick at nothing
   - modules not started from the desktop will stop at program termination
( not a bug, but not to avoid because of the TOS-memory-managment )
   - every module will stop at a resolution change ( see above )
